Here are some tips to help you to both get prepared for the next phase.
Make sure that it is the right time. The fact is, there isn't a schedule that states when the correct time is for a couple to move in together. It will be based on how both parties are feeling. Both of you have to be on a similar page prior to when you combine your households.
Determine the place where you prefer to live. While it's easier to move into one person's residence, for many couples, it is best to begin again in a new place. This way, it will always seem like home to both of you, as opposed to his (or her) apartment.
If you opt to move into one person's abode, will the other person be comfortable enough to make changes? Whenever an individual moves into the other person's home, they will often want to make it feel much more like their abode by bringing in their unique pieces of furniture and moving a few things around to generate room for their stuff. The other person needs to be in a position to meeting half way and allow the other one to make these adjustments so both persons are happy in their new residence.
Take your time when going through your possessions. When combining two households, you are going to have plenty of belongings for the new (or existing residence). You are probably going to have two beds, two couches, and lots of blankets. You will probably both have kitchen and bathroom stuff.
You do not have to have double of everything in your new place, and that means you are going to need to go through everything to evaluate which you will keep and what you will sell or give away. Some sentimental items will need to remain however you might struggle to choose what pieces of furniture you want to keep. You may have to make that decision depending on the one that is in better shape or which one can integrate into your abode better.
Do not be reluctant to check out storage. Should you be seriously struggling to determine what to keep and do away with, you may want to lease a storage area for now. This could also be of assistance if you are considering moving into a larger house in the long term. You could need the additional bed for guests when you find yourself wanting to buy your next home. You might want to keep a few of your sentimental items in storage until you have got your man cave or she shack.
Discuss finances early. It is important to talk about finances prior to deciding to move in together. You might like to get a joint checking account so that you can team up to pay for the bills.
Then again, it could work better if you split up the bills, letting one person maintain the rent, while the other covers the electric, water, along with other bills. Both of you must be at ease with how you are going to pay your expenses prior to taking the next step.
Prior to deciding to move in together, you should take a moment and really go over it. You'll want to be sure that it is the right time for both of you. Additionally you need to determine if you are intending to live in one person's home or begin fresh with your new home. Then, you need to go through your stuff.
