Protect your TV During your Move

couple moving tvSomething horrible that can go wrong when moving is breaking something important… especially the television…. Here at A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we know it really sucks to get to your new house with a broken TV. We want to make your move as stress-free as we can here in Oklahoma City, whether your move is local or long distance. That’s why we’ve write up some tips and tricks for packing up your TV.

First off, you’re going to
have to have a box that’s the right size for transporting your TV. Using the box and packaging that it came in is a great idea – if you still have it. If you threw it out, you can purchase a box specifically made for moving flat-screen TVs from a hardware store or a moving supply store. You should find a box that is just slightly bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to bounce around when it’s inside. Moving expensive and delicate items requires packing and moving experience, not simply big moving trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group we have a team of experienced movers who can help you with your move, even if it’s just securing your TV and making sure it’s packaged up correctly.

Before unplugging everything, a good idea is to snap a few pictures of the back of the television with all the cords plugged in. This will make it a lot easier when you have to reinstall your TV. After taking a picture, get your TV ready to pack up. First disconnect the main power cord, then all other connecting wires and cords. Get all of them inside a bag together and tape this to the outside of the box. Sometimes there is a base you have to remove from the television to fit it in the box. When that’s the case, put everything into a little bag and keep it with the TV so everything stays together.

Once you’re finished, you can get the TV all packed up. Whether you are moving far from Oklahoma City or you are only moving locally, it’s important to see that your television is fully covered. You should use foam pieces to cover the TV screen, these will come in your kit if you got one, or in the box that your TV came in originally if you have it. The foam not only keeps the screen protected, but it also will keep your television from bumping around in the box during the move. Secure the foam pieces using mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover the whole TV and stop it from getting scratched.

After your TV is all covered up it’s finally time to place it in the box! Keep your TV upright when you do this, and secure it by filling spaces and gaps with more sheets and blankets. That way the TV won’t move and shift around in its box.

Set the box upright and get it next to other smooth, secure furniture, like your mattress, dresser, or a bookshelf. Don’t forget to keep important cables by the TV, either in a bag taped to the side or in another box.

After that you’re ready to go! Hopefully you have a moving company here in Oklahoma City to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered! We can move you fast and efficiently, and we’ll make sure your TV is safe and sound so you have it all up and running when the big game comes around.

Best. Move. Ever!
Very pleased with the overall respect and care the men gave to my possessions. Even mailing me very quickly the only thing lost in transit. Would recommend to anyone needing a long distant move.
